"Keys to the Kingdom"
Creative Concept: This was a print ad used in "Guitar World" magazine advertising the guitar department of the Atlanta Institute of Music (later renamed AIMM). Guitar virtuoso Tosin Abasi holds the "keys to the kingdom", suggesting that you, too, can enjoy the same kinds of massive successes he has by training at AIM.
Execution: For the top of the ad, I repurposed a single frame of video that I shot of Tosin against a green screen (originally for a series of interview videos), and keyed out the green. I then composited his keyed headshot against a digital backdrop that included a grungy cement wall, AIM logo, and Tosin's guitar. The hand holding the keys is not Tosin's; rather, it is another actor's hand shot against a green screen. The AIM medallion on the keychain was created in Cinema4D (a 3D rendering application) and composited into the scene.
The bottom of the ad contains the ad copy, AIM logo, contact information, QR code, and various music photos.
The entire layout was created in Adobe InDesign and exported for print.
