Creative Concept: This was a distinct call to INACTION using a phonetic respelling of the name "Spotify" to suggest something else entirely (the red text).
During a time when Spotify was under attack for not paying out adequate royalties to the owners of the music it streamed, this image was designed to cause viewers to think twice about signing up for Spotify's service—both as an end user OR a music provider—by illustrating just how meager the payouts were, and just how little the company valued music artists everywhere.
Execution: I took an actual check containing a mere 8 cents to the payee and staged it atop a cell phone with connected ear buds and a MIDI keyboard (commonly used to compose contemporary music). I then added the ad copy in Adobe Photoshop.
